aw aly hen, you missed out today! next time we meet i will make it up to you... good luck with the exercise thing by the way! i have just started going to the gym and there's these 70 year old men running laps around me and doing chin ups and stuff. i see no justice in this.
Haha! I heard all about your day! Gutted I couldn’t be there but I had nandos/pizza hut related commitments :/ but you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be there next time. I am extremely jealous that you were given a lolly….although the story did give me a giggle!
Oh God, the exercise is quite something. I wish I could get fit just from watching tv to be honest! Good luck at the gym! It can be a daunting experience. There’s a woman at mine who must be around 60 and she’s a TANK!! She’s got the biggest muscles I ever seen! Maybe I could get chatting to her and hook her up with your 70 year old :P Then maybe they’d be out our gyms and leave us to lose our dignity in peace :)
My insanity training has taken a turn for the worst and I feel guilty because I’ve only been at it for about a week.
I was all for it at the start of the week and was loving the plyometrics and resistance workouts. It was going really well. I felt tired but great and was powering through.
Yesterday I had to miss it because I was away on a school outing with my class from placement. We went to Arran and it was AMAZING! We walked from the harbour to Brodick castle and then got to see inside the castle. They have 90 deer heads! It’s quite something. I didn’t want to come home of course.
The today I woke up with the mother load of colds. So I have decided to skip insanity again. I think I’d be better to rest up than push myself cos that could make things worse. I do feel guilty, but I’d rather miss a day or two than make myself sick and miss a whole week or something.
Anyway, onwards and upwards. Tonight shall be a night of resting and TV. I’m gonna walk the dogs so that I am getting some light exercise in at least. Then I plan on sleeping. I’m on an early shift tomorrow at work anyway so I needs my sleep!
I know this is maybe a weird place to start documenting my progress with insanity, but I forgot to write on the other days.
Last Monday I started the Insanity workout program with my bf as, although I have been going to the gym pretty religiously, I wanted something that would actually SHOW me how to sort out my problem areas (abs, upper arms in particular). I also want to lose a bit of weight - currently I am 10st or 140lbs. Would like to drop about 9/10lbs which would take me right to the middle of the healthy weight BMI range. My height is about 5ft 8.
So I decided, why not get started on this, I looked it up online and thought that it looked alright and people seemed to be getting good results from it.
Anyway, I am now IN LOVE with it, and in particular, Shaun T. What a guy.
I mean, seriously.
Anyway, that aside, my results for the fit test were:
SWITCH KICKS: 94 POWER JACKS: 44 POWER KNEES: 61 POWER JUMPS: 38 (although I have now grown to not like her that much, I copied Tanya(?)’s way of doing it - 4 quick in a row then rest) GLOBE JUMPS: 9 (I do not like these) SUICIDE JUMPS: 7 PUSH-UP JACKS: 6 LOW PLANK OBLIQUES: 30
I don’t know how my results compare to other people’s, but I was quite happy with them. It shows where I’m at and where I can hopefully get to.
I had a couple of days off it after the fit test due to being dead busy with life, but on Thursday, we got kick started. LOVING IT. It’s so hard, but I feel great.
We had yesterday off to go sailing (might post pictures in another post later), but got back into it today with the Pure Cardio workout. It was hard, but it has left me feeling totally pumped! I’m ready to go a run now and feel like I could keep exercising the night away! This is a good feeling, considering a couple of months ago, I had to push myself to get up and go a run.
I am starting to see small differences in myself. I am starting to see the very start of lines on my abs (YES!!!) which makes me uncontrollably happy, and I feel better in myself and my body.
Onwards and upwards I say. Going to go a two mile jog now and then be ready to do plyometrics tomorrow and then rest day!
